In this collection I abandoned consistency in favor of uniqueness and expressivenes. Each poster was designed to be as different as possible from one another, not necessarely as a goal in and on itself, but as a mean to enrich visual language. I approached this collection having two things clear in my mind: for one, I would learn and experiment with different techniques. Second, I would be absolutely free regarding aesthetics. In the sense that, I would not restrain myself in any way, shape or form trying to have a cohesive sense of identity in the collection itself. This is a collection about the infinite possibilities of expression that reside deep inside us. Usually, they reveal themselves to us in our slumber.
Regarding post-processing, from a technical perspective, this collection is also an expression of my journey on textures. I've been experimenting a lot with different types of textures, from half-tones to noise and everything in between. Analog camera, film, paper, and every type of "grunge" overlays as well.
Another interesting point about this collection is the introduction of seemengly random visual elements in some compositions. Seemengly, but not completely, as they do establish symbolic relationship with the theme/concept of each piece. It's simply not as apparent as it would be in other pieces. I've been enjoying experimenting with the idea of randomness. The idea that not every single element present in a good piece of graphic design needs to be 100% thought out to its bones. There must always be space for occasional randomness, imperfection and apparent lack of conjunction or relationship. This allow us to strange what we see right in front of us. I believe we only develop our own critical thinking if we strange the world around us. By going through this process, we strange and, eventually, develop, our own sense of identity.
